Its not like i have to have Cortana, but i cant get to my main screen without it. I’ll get a critical error message in a green box that says: Start up menu and Cortana are not working, we will fix this for you upon next sign in, or something like that.

But the only option is to sign out and sign in, i do this several times, and the only thing that works is to shut down and reboot.not restart because restart does not work, i have to totally shut down and turn my pc back on.Do you maybe know why this is happening? I did get the OS installed, up and running “almost” fine. The problem with my particular HP dv6700 laptop is the native screen resolution was 1280×800.

After the Win 10 installed, I was only presented with 800×600 and 1280×768. If your display was previously using one of these two resolutions, you should be fine. In my case, dropping back from 1280×800 was not acceptable. Icons were disproportionate and default windows would spill over into the margins (non-viewable area). I will be rolling my laptop back to Win 7 or Win 8.1 because I don’t see any other solution available, short of Nvidia getting a consumer conscious and updating the 7150M video driver.
