I think this is the best programe for mappers. On the site theres also good tutorials to get you started. For a programe to be such versatile and advanced, I am surprize its free, so you can spend a couple hundred dollars on crazy bump or get this better programe for free. I am not trotting down crazy bump, it is a good mapper programe, I just dont agree with the price.

The fact, that it's price is so high - comparing to the common price of 30-40 USD for single task application, means that is has no real competition.

Rendering ambient occlusion/cavity map maps takes a lot of time, much more that normal maps. Using CB, you can make 2-3 version of these maps in just few seconds. Rendering the same stuff using MR would take much, much longer. True, it can be done but nobody uses zbrush for this purpose because it wasn't designed to do that and second the whole process would be horribly ineffective. If you think about alpha-skulpting the plane, there're two problems: you have to manually position that an alpha brush over the plane to not loose (or keep) the texture tiling and the fact that you will have to fix the output image because zbrush have problems with the the UV's set to 0-1.
