The CardScan Personal 60 Scanner with v8.0.5 software ALMOST works on Windows-7 64-bit by using Virtual XP Mode. The CardScan software installs without problem in XP Mode. Using the 'Virtuallized USB' capability of XP Mode, the scanner is recognized as a 'Corex CardScan 60' in XP Mode. However, it is necessary to use the Hardware Update Wizard to install the correct driver. Either cdscn60.inf or cdscn62.inf (32-bit driver installers in the CardScan software package) seem to work.
Jan 04, 2012 I have used CardScan Softweare with the CardScan 800c business card scanner. I am however not able to install and use the scanner. After installing the driver, Device Manager reports that the device is operating properly. Upon starting the CardScan application, it recognizes the scanner as a CardScan 60. The application then asks for the scanner be to calibrated with a white card.
The blue triangle on the scanner lights up, so it's definitely responding to the application, but clicking OK on the calibration dialog prompt does nothing. The scanner won't actually read in the calibration card, and without calibration the application won't go any further. Anyone have any ideas how to get it to go the last inch?

See my for etc. (1) I need it running in Virtual PC because I am running 64-bit Windows-7 and there are no 64-bit drivers for the scanner. Since Dymo bought CardScan (Corex), all development has stopped. (2) Yes, it works OK on 32-bit Windows-7 (there are 32-bit drivers) but I need it to work on my current 64-bit Windows system for business reasons. (3) I figured out why the scanner wouldn't read in the calibration card -- there was too much ambient light! The scanner uses an IR-LED/IR-photoreceptor pair right in front of the CMOS line-scanner array to detect the presence of a card and turn on the motor; the IR-photoreceptor is simply too sensitive to ambient light. After dimming the room illumination significantly, the scanner read cards perfectly. I tried adjusting the angle of the LED-photoreceptor pair so that they were aimed more closely at each other, but it didn't make a difference.
It might be possible to add a cylinder of IR-filter film around the photoreceptor to reduce the effect of ambient light, but it's much more trouble than it's worth. It's easier to remember to dim the lights before using the scanner. Some questions first. Do you already have 'Windows XP Mode' installed and running on your 64-bit Windows-7 PC? If not, please refer to Microsoft online documentation regarding how to download and install it. Do you have a CardScan Personal 60 II scanner? This is the ONLY model that my commentary applies to.
There are other models of CardScan scanners such as the 600c that DO have 64-bit drivers. Do you already have CardScan v8.0.5 software? If not, please download it from. Note that you need your original software serial number (from the CardScan CD) in order to do the download. The drivers you need are included in the download. I don't want to go to the trouble of providing step-by-step instructions unless you can answer 'Yes' truthfully to all three questions. I have all of the above that you mention (Windows XP Mode installed, loaded CardScan v8.05 software in XP Mode, CardScan Personal 60 II scanner) and cannot get the drivers setup for the device.
I can locate them on the hard drive and point directly to them when I try to update the driver, but it will not accept the driver in the Windows 7 environment and doesn't allow me to move forward when trying to 'add Hardware' in the XP Mode with the specific driver file/location identified. How did you get the driver for the device loaded? Here's how I got my old CardScan 60 to work on Windows 7 64-bit. 1) On your Win 7 64-bit machine, you'll need to use Windows XP Mode (there are 2 parts): A) Download and install Windows Virtual PC: B) Download and install Windows XP Mode: 2) From Start menu, run Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode.
